Government Relations & Advocacy

The TCSA was founded to serve as the voice for students to the government and take actions to advocate for better student lives within the post-secondary education system. This year, the TCSA shall continue to advocate for students’ wellbeing and needs at the local, administrative, provincial and federal level, while increasing the engagement of students in the political process. Such campaigns/initiatives include Trent Votes, among many others.

Trent Votes

The Trent Votes Campaign is in partnership between the TCSA and the Trent University Politics Society (TUPS). This is a non-partisan campaign tailored to Trent Students focused on education, discussion, and engagement of all students in political and student elections.

For the upcoming Federal election this campaign will use materials from the “It’s No Secret Campaign” from the Canadian Federation of Students. “It’s No Secret” is a call to action for Canadians of all political affiliations and it highlights the pressing issues of student debt and youth unemployment. Trent Votes will also be focussing on increasing voter turnout amongst Trent University students.

This campaign will also be used to increase voter turnout and awareness for student elections on the Trent campus.
