To the attention of the Peterborough and Trent University community,
The Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) is deeply saddened by the terrorist attack that occurred at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Quebec City on Sunday evening. Our deepest condolences go out to the families who have lost loved ones. We understand how these events, while not occurring here directly, still deeply affect our Muslim community in Peterborough. We have not forgotten the hideous act of arson against the Peterborough Mosque in November of 2015, and we have a responsibility to stand with the Muslim community during this difficult time.
The TCSA strives for Trent University to be a campus where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and supported. We will continue to do everything we can to support students, and to fight against discrimination of any kind.
The TCSA continues to work with the Trent Muslim Student Association (TMSA) to support Muslim students at this time, and always. We encourage students, staff, faculty, and community members to attend the TMSA Islam Awareness Week happening February 7th-10th. Together, we can fight discrimination and Islamophobia.
