TCSA 5K Colour Run: Online Registration Now Open

The TCSA 5K Colour Run is one of our most popular events of the year! Each September during Orientation Week, we hold a 5K fun run for all ages and all abilities. Run, jog, or walk the route through Trent’s beautiful campus at your own pace.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Online registration is open; you can sign up through our Eventbrite page by clicking here. This event is open to all Trent and Peterborough community members.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the YES Shelter for Youth and Families downtown Peterborough. For more information about YES, visit their website here.

Transit: Civic Holiday

Please be advised that the Trent Express West Bank and East Bank buses will not be running on Monday, August 5, 2019 for the Civic Holiday. Regular summer Trent Express service will resume on Tuesday, August 6. Schedules and route maps can be found by clicking here.

Peterborough city routes will be operating on a holiday schedule on Monday, August 5. Schedules for all Peterborough transit routes can be found on their website.

Transit: Detours - Saturday, July 27, 2019

Please note that the West Bank and East Bank buses we have scheduled for exams tomorrow (Saturday, July 27) will be detouring inbound to the terminal between 8am and 4pm due to Peterborough Pulse.

TCSA Contract Position: Board of Directors Chairperson/Speaker

Position Title: Chairperson/Speaker (1)

Terms of Contract:

Honoraria: $1000.00

Act as chair for all meetings of the Board of Directors, Semi-Annual General Meetings and Meetings of the Membership after appointment has been ratified by the Board of Directors.

Semi-Annual General Meetings occur the fall (1 in October) and winter semesters (1 in January or February). Dates TBD.

All Board of Directors meetings are held at 1 pm on Sunday’s throughout the 2019-2020 Academic Term. The dates are as follows:

  • 8th September 2019

  • 22nd September 2019

  • 6th October 2019

  • 3rd November 2019

  • 17th November 2019

  • 1st December 2019

  • 12th January 2020

  • 26th January 2020

  • 9th February 2020

  • 1st March 2020

  • 22nd March 2020

In the event of Special Meeting or Emergency Meeting of the Board of Directors, it is expected that the chairperson makes themselves available to conduct the business of the meeting.

Summary of tasks required:

  • Attend and chair all meetings of the Board of Directors including Semi-Annual General Meetings & Meetings of the Membership while acting in accordance with the by-laws & policies of the Association and Robert’s Rules of Order;

  • Abide by the Association’s principles, and have some knowledge of its priorities and processes;

  • Have knowledge of and act in accordance with the procedures outlined in Robert’s Rules of Order, 11th Edition.

  • Receive advisement from the Association Resource Manager and ensure the procedures within the Association’s by-laws and policies, as well as Robert’s Rules of Order, 11th Edition,  are properly observed.

  • Undertake all necessary preparations prior to the meeting such as policy review to support clear procedure being followed in the meeting and ensuring space is ready for the meeting to occur.

  • Experience and knowledge of chairing meetings using Robert’s Rules of Order.

  • Confidence in oral communication in large groups; speak clearly and succinctly.

  • Be sensitive to the feelings of members

  • Be impartial and objective

Position Title: External Representative – Organizational Review & Development Committee

Summary of tasks required:

  • Attend meetings of the Organizational Review & Development Committee.

  • Conduct accountable and transparent analysis of the TCSA’s by-laws and policies to ensure their functions and effects benefit the membership of the Association.

  • Contribute to the work of Organizational Review and Development Committee by collaborating, making suggestions and voting on proposed changes.

  • Be willing to attend Semi-Annual General Meetings of the membership in the fall and winter semesters.

  • Be willing to attend meetings to solicit suggestions about the TCSA’s policies and procedures from the membership at large.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possesses experience and knowledge of policy and analysis, especially policy impacting students;

  • Have previous experience with student organizations at Trent University;

  • Have a self-motivated and reliable approach;

  • Have some existing knowledge of the Association;

  • Be a member of the Association;

  • Be willing to fulfill the responsibilities of this appointment until the Winter Semi-Annual General Meeting.

Transit: Convocation

Please be advised that from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7, buses entering the West Bank of campus will be using Blackburn Hall as a turnaround point between 9:30am and 4:30pm. This means that transit stops on the West Bank of campus will not be serviced during these hours.

Transit: Extra Buses during Summer Exams

The extra transit schedule for the June 2019 exam session has been posted to the Transit page of our website. From June 13 to June 16, there will be extra West Bank and East Bank buses operating at peak exam times. The summer Trent Express will be running as scheduled. Please find the extra exam buses highlighted in blue. We will also have West Bank and East Bank buses running on the weekend during the exam period at peak exam times.
