We would like to bring this letter of resignation from Ryan Newman, Vice President Campaigns & Equity, to the attention of the student membership:
To the attention of the Trent Central Student Association Membership,
Due to various personal transitions which I am currently experiencing, I hereby resign from the position of Vice President Campaigns and Equity of the Trent Central Student Association. As a member of local 71, I understand the importance of academic standing, my GPA has dropped since entering the position. Before all else, I place my mental well-being at the forefront of my priorities; this has been affected due to my time spent in the office. As student life accelerates, the responsibility of this position must rest on the shoulders of someone else.
I'd like to thank all 704 students who voted for me in March, the decision to step aside is made out of respect for your interests. Also, thanks to Anna and Kristina from the office, and best of luck to our amazing equity commissioners and college representatives on the TCSA Board of Directors. Without this position, I remain a proud student activist, and stay committed to the student movement. Local 71 is a strong, active unit and will grow evermore with the help of my successor.
With this resignation, the VPCE seat has been added to the list of vacant positions in the 2016 fall By-Elections. We encourage students who are interested in running for this position to pick up an Executive nomination package in the TCSA office, or download one from our Elections web page.
