Important Information about your Trent Student Benefits

All Trent University September start undergraduate students billed for 1.5 credits or more, as well as all Durham, Graduate, George Brown, and ESL students, have been charged for the Trent Student Health and Dental Benefits Plan through your student account. This is a comprehensive health, dental and travel full year plan, expiring August 31, 2019. You may start using your benefits plan starting September 1. Full details on what is covered and how to submit claims can be found at Benefit cards are available on our website or in the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) office on the second floor of the Student Centre (TSC 2.15). 

Students billed for less than 1.5 credits, or those studying abroad, are not automatically enrolled in the Benefits Plan but have the option of opting in. Contact the TCSA office to opt-in to the plan. The deadline to opt-in to the Benefits Plan is September 30, 2018.

You may also register dependents (children and spouse) on the plan by visiting our office or the above website. The deadline to add dependents is September 30, 2018. Please note that added dependents are subjected to a blackout period. Although the plan for them will technically start on September 1, the plan will not be accessible until approximately the middle of October. This is to ensure those that have added dependents are eligible to do so. Receipts can be submitted for reimbursement after the end of the blackout period through the Medavie Blue Cross Portal.

If you hold alternative comparable coverage, you may combine coverage or opt out of our Benefits Plan by visiting and providing proof of your alternative coverage (policy/group and certificate number). You may opt out between September 1 and September 30, 2018. Refunds will be processed in October. You may choose to receive either an e-transfer or direct deposit. The refund will be less $5 as all eligible students at Trent are asked to pay into the program that helps fund special assistance requests and community support initiatives.
