The CGSJ is an inclusive space to meet, share, create and organize with people from the Trent, Nogojiwanong/Peterborough communities who share a commitment to our mandate. The CGSJ is committed to community-based care and mutual aid and in finding ways to redistribute resources to those affected by gender based oppression. Within an intersectional framework, the Centre aims to prioritize the needs of BIPOC and those who are most marginalized by the patriarchy and cishetero-normativity in our community, whether through creating social spaces or resources and advocacy. We use a social justice model that is informed by a holistic understanding of anti-oppression and feminist politics. This model aims to recognize the ways in which ideas and experiences of gender are shaped by racism, colonialism, classism, ableism, cis-heteronormativity and all other forms of oppression. Where possible we will approach our work within a harm reduction lens and opt for restorative justice practices over carceral feminism.

World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a student run organization that believes the importance of education and its empowerment in fostering human development. WUSC at Trent's major project is based on the Student Refugee Program (SRP).

WUSC is a network of individuals and post-secondary institutions who believe that all peoples are entitled to the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to a more equitable world. The majority of members form Local Committees that consist of students, faculty and staff in over 80 active college and university campuses across Canada.

The WUSC Local Committee at Trent University is made up of students, faculty, and community members who are involved in international cooperation initiatives. Along with the tremendous and valuable support that our Local Committee receives from the Trent International Program, WUSC at Trent University also collaborates with other on-campus organizations who share similar interests.
