Title: Communications & Tech Assistant

Job’s Purpose:
The Communications and Tech Assistant serves the membership by promoting the related activities of the Association through new and existing channels, including the TCSA App. Working under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Coordinator, the Communications Assistant is intended to be a key support in managing TCSA brand awareness and technical support. 

Wage & Hours: $18.72/hour, 8-10 hours/week

Work Terms:

  • Statutory holiday pay (20% of 4-week average weekly earnings)

  • Potential work over reading week & exam periods; winter break off

  • 4 paid sick shifts 

  • 4% vacation pay on gross

Description Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Coordinator, communicate with students and the community all up-to-date news and upcoming events, services and campaigns through all available means, including MyTrent, the TCSA App, and the Association's website. 

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of various app components for the Trent Central Student App, including onboarding Clubs and Groups and vendors from our Student Discount Map.

  • Responsible for event ticketing and managing registration databases

  • Assists with technical and IT related troubleshooting around the office 

  • Assists with website management

  • Adhere to Association branding guidelines in all promotion and content creation

Reports To:

  • Communications & Marketing Coordinator 

  • General Manager

  • Association Resource Manager

Education:

  • Current & returning computer science undergraduate students attending Trent University are encouraged to apply.

Experience Required:

  • Computer skills.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Works collaboratively with others.

  • Ability to work independently.

  •  Experience with Adobe Photoshop and other editing software is considered an asset

  • Experience with app development is an asset

  • Extended periods of standing and speaking with others in person.

  • Ability to multitask, shift priorities with frequent interruptions.

  • Ability to reprioritize work based on new/unexpected issues that arise.

  • Actively listening to questions and concerns and responding with detailed responses.

Training:
Mandatory training (i.e., AODA), TCSA Orientation, and other training where available.
