Time in My Shoes (TiMS) is an experiential learning program designed to allow the first-hand experience of the daily challenges many disabled individuals face. This is done through realistic simulations within The Student Centre with local facilitators.
The program focuses on mobility, vision, hearing, and inclusion. This interactive learning opportunity will help stimulate meaningful discussions and highlight the importance of a barrier-free, accessible campus community for all.
TiMS will be on Trent’s campus for 2 days: Monday, March 7th and Tuesday, March 8th, from 10am to 12pm in the Student Centre Event Space.
There will be 4 facilitators per session; we invite students to come by and learn and feel the experiences that many people with disabilities face on a day-to-day basis, and discuss how we can work to make campus spaces for accessible and inclusive.
The 2-hour program is a great precursor to any formal AODA Customer Service Training. Additionally, participants will receive a certificate of completion. This experiential learning program will be facilitated in two separate sessions with 20 students per session.
