The Shades of Survivorship (SOS) peer support group, an initiative started this year by TCSA Vice President Health and Wellness, aims to provide an additional resource for racialized and international students who have survived sexual and gender-based violence.
In recognizing that caucasian individuals lead the prominent resources for sexual violence survivors, this initiative seeks to provide a community for folks of shared and similar cultures, ethnicities, and lived experiences to come together and find comfort and support in their peers.
This semester, we will be holding weekly events in the Freedom Lounge in the Student Centre, in a comfortable and private space. Materials and supplies will be provided, along with light refreshments.
The first Shades of Survivorship event is Yoga with @Des.DoesYoga. Des will run a 45 min trauma-informed yoga class in the Freedom Lounge. Registration is required as there is an 8-student maximum.
When: Thursday, September 22nd at 12pm
Where: Student Centre Freedom Lounge
