We’re bringing you SWORD: Black History Month Edition. Open to all BIPOC students to learn more about personal safety training and justice-seeking processes. Featuring Personal Safety Alarm Keychain Making!
Catering provided by Osmows.
Wednesday, February 1st from 4pm to 6pm in the Student Centre Event Space. Click here to register.
This event is part of SWORD month, presented by the Excaliburnt Out campaign. SWORD month was created for students interested in learning more about sexual/gendered violence prevention and supporting both their community and themselves. SWORD Month is dedicated to facilitating a culture of consent, support, and solidarity through a variety of creative person-first educational programming.
Given the increase of hate crimes and sexual violence locally according to StatsCan and the 2022 Sexual Violence Task Force report, the TCSA is advocating for further support for students post-incident.
Register for at least 2 SWORD month events to be entered in a raffle for personal safety tools and more!
Trent has a lot of work to do in regards to how we are addressing sexual/gendered violence, both on a personal and institutional level. Together we can change the campus climate and make Trent a safer, more open place. The Excaliburnt Out initiative seeks to implement an anonymous reporting form for students who have experienced hate crimes or incidents of sexual/gendered violence. We are also advocating for more specialized therapists to support students from a variety of backgrounds.
