Welcome to the 2024 ReFrame Film Festival! In collaboration with the Reframe Film Festival, the Trent Central Student Association welcomes Trent students to learn about the Curve Lake First Nation Community through storytelling centring Indigenous lived experience. The Wshkiigmong Dibaajmownan Curve Lake Storytelling project was launched by Dr. Nadine Changfoot, a professor of Political Studies at Trent, in a research partnership with the Curve Lake Health Centre, Curve Lake First Nation community members, and ReVision. The Anishnaabe filmmakers discuss powerful stories about their families, relations, upbringing, and lessons they have learned. This project weaves a profound journey of connection, identity, and love for the land and community.
This screening features short films by six diverse community members.
My Beginnings by Marilyn Knott
My Storytelling by Marg Knott
For the Little Girl who Dances from the South by Missy Knott
“The Rez” by Sarah Lewis
The Best of Both Worlds by Carol Taylor
Turtle Crossing by Jonathan Taylor
After the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion with the filmmakers and learn more about their stories. The panel will be hosted by Dr. Nadine Changfoot and Alice Olsen Williams.
