Position Title: Services and Events Assistant

Wage & Hours: $19.11/hr, 8-10 hrs/wk

Work Terms:

  • Four (4) staff September - April (late-August start, up to 34 weeks; excluding winter break)

  • Statutory holiday pay (20% of 4-week average weekly earnings)

  • Potential work over reading week & exam periods; winter break off

  • 4 paid sick shifts

  • 4% vacation pay on gross

Job’s Purpose:

Services & Events Assistants serve the membership by promoting the services and work of the Trent Central Student Association. As part of a team and as individuals, they help create opportunities for membership engagement throughout the year and assist the staff and executive team with events and campaigns.

Description Summary:

  • Work within a team to advertise and promote all Association services, events and campaigns, while building a presence on campus.

  • Use oral and written communication to promote the overall brand of the Trent Central Student Association.

  • Use a variety of promotional tools and tactics, including posters, tabling and face-to-face interaction.

  • Assist with the set-up and facilitation and planning of events; engage with membership.

Additional Assigned Responsibilities:

Board Secretary: Suggested hours per month of 4-6 hours as Services & Events Assistant, 4 hours as Board Secretary: Attend all meetings of the Board, take minutes, note attendance, presenters, motions, movers, motions carried/defeated. Provide support to the board chair and directors as needed. Prepare minutes with support from the Association Resource Manager.

Finance Assistant: Suggested hours per month 5-10. Under the direction of the General Manager, assist with financial filings, sending e-transfers for student funding and other administrative tasks related to the Finance & Operations Committee.

Deputy Electoral Officer: Suggested 3-5 hours per week from September to mid-October, and again

from February to mid-March. Under the direction of the Lead Electoral Officer, ensure the compliance of

election policy, provide election committee support, campaign oversight, promotions, and events. Duties

include both in-person and virtual components. Must not be running or intending to run in either the Fall

or Spring elections.
